Handing over of Africa for Africa Women's Conference Report

In continuing with the resolutions of the Africa For Africa Women's conference hosted by the Department of Social Development in conjunction with its stakeholders on 08-10 march 2015, a delegation from the department met the Chairperson of the African Union Dr. Nkosazana Dlamini-Zuma to handover the Africa For Africa conference report.

The group met the Chairperson at the International Women's Forum (IWF) which was held in Johannesburg from 20-22 May 2015. The forum is aimed at advancing leadership across careers, cultures and continents by connecting the world's most preeminent women of significant and diverse achievement. The IWF brings together its unprecedented global membership of more than 6,000 women leaders in 33 nations to exchange ideas, to learn and inspire and to promote better leadership for a changing world. The forum is committed to advancing women's leadership through training, mentoring and connectivity.

Forums of this nature assists the department in delivering on its mandate that of empowering women and affording them an opportunity to be champions of their own development. The handing over of the report is significant as it confirms the Department's commitment to the conference resolutions, which include but not limited to:

  • Women beneficiation across the agricultural value chains
  • Systematic, targeted and sustainable funding model for women enterprises
  • Capabilities development for sustainable women enterprises
